K2 Base: video tutorial

K2 Systems, a German leader in the production of mounting structures for photovoltaic systems, offers K2 Base, a free design tool that allows you to structure and design a complete system on a sloping or flat roof down to the smallest detail.

K2 Free software base to design the photovoltaic system on any roof

K2 Base includes graphic design tools with Google Maps-Integration and allows to obtain a specific structural analysis including a list of articles for the designed anchoring system and allows to define the wind and snow load according to the Eurocode.

In addition, all data can also be quickly transferred with K2+ to planning tools from SolarEdge, SMA Fronius, Kostal and GoodWe, for a complete project.

10 video tutorials to learn how to use K2 Base

10 short tech tips and video tutorials have been created, which explain step by step each function and step for the design of the photovoltaic structure.

  • Step 1: General project details; capturing satellite image
  • Step 2: Setting of wind and snow loads; select terrain category (wind exposition)
  • Step 3: Roof (roof type, roofing, drawing the roof, set roof parameters, obstructions/obstacles)
  • Step 4: Design or drawing of module array (selection/definition PV module, selection mounting system, thermal separations or maintenance walkways)
  • Step 5: Results and calculation (optional components, warnings and errors)
  • Summary (bill of material BOM, PDF report, Excel and CAD export)
